While looking through other people's year-end-lists, I came across this band. Well, I heard of them before but never paid much attention until last week. I really like their whole album but this is a stand-out song. It reminds me of Radiohead and Tom York's voice. Maybe one of the reasons why I like it so much.
Granted, I didn't pay much attention to The Bravery in earlier years but I fell in love with this New York/Brooklyn band when attending a private gig of theirs, organized by my fav radio station 101.9 RXP. Slow Poison is such a catchy song.

You’re free to go - my mantra. The 3rd record of New York's Hopewell. We know Jay, the drummer, for almost as long as we live in New York. On this album, my favorite of theirs, the drums got more attention. Listen to this song and you hear what I mean. Kudos Jay!
My main discovery for 2009! I love, love, love this band. Can't wait to see them live again in 2010! My favorite song of their 2nd album "Novel Sounds of the Noveau South".
While I don't really dig Muse's whole new album, I absolutely love that song! My number 5.
I wouldn't be honest if I didn't list Adam Lambert here. I blogged so much about him anyway, so it would be wrong to leave him out here. Although "I fell in love with him" when he first sang "Black and White", I go with this song from American Idol. From his first real album, I probably like "Soaked" best, a song written by Muse's singer Matt Bellamy.
While in general, Oliver and I like the same music, we both have our preferences. He prefers more electronic, I prefer more rock. This however is a stand-out song! One, I even dropped my hand-me-down iPhone and crashed it! It's an awesome song, and almost my number one.
Yes, they do sound a bit like Smashing Pumpkins but updated. Their album is phenomenal and that's probably my favorite song on it. But I love it all!
1. Division Day -
Black CrowI still regret to not have made it to their September 20th concert in New York. I had a fantastic time in Fire Island instead but I so would have loved to see one my most favorite bands of 2009! Next time! For now, I declare "Black Crow" my Number 1 song of 2009.
